Are reborn dolls suitable for children?

Which reborn babies suit which ages, what to supervise, and how to choose one that will survive being loved by a child.
Sometimes, and it depends on the baby and the child. Reborn dolls are finished by hand with painted detail and delicate parts, so they are not built like a nursery toy.
Our guidance by age
- Under 3: not suitable. Our babies carry small parts such as dummies and magnets, and the painted finish is not made for chewing.
- 3 and over: a cloth-body baby can be a lovely companion with an adult nearby. Light, soft, and easy to carry.
- 8 and over: a careful child can enjoy a weighted baby.
- Collectors' pieces: full silicone babies are heavy and delicate, and are best kept for adults and older teenagers.
Every listing states this, and the dummy and bottle that come with each baby carry the same guidance.
What to supervise
- Mouths. Dummies, bottles and magnets are small parts.
- Pens and dark fabrics. Ink and dye transfer to painted skin and will not come out.
- Rough handling. Limbs are joined, not moulded in one piece; swinging a baby by an arm will loosen it.
- Heat. Radiators, car dashboards and direct sun soften and mark both vinyl and silicone.
Helping a child care for one
Children usually take the job seriously if it is explained as caring rather than as rules:
- Support the head, the way you would a real baby.
- Hands washed before cuddles — painted skin picks up everything.
- Dress gently, one limb at a time.
- Sleep somewhere safe, away from radiators and pets.
Cleaning and everyday care is short enough to read together.
Buying as a gift
If the baby is for a child, choose light, choose cloth body, and choose an outfit that is easy to change — clothes and dummy sizes helps. If you are not sure the child is ready, a mini reborn is a gentler start.
